Walk & Talk Therapy in Winter Haven, Florida & Surrounding Areas

Therapy, with a little more room to move.

Therapy doesn’t always have to happen sitting across from someone in an office.

Walk & Talk Therapy is exactly what it sounds like: we meet at an agreed-upon outdoor location and have our therapy session while walking together.

For some people, moving while talking makes conversation feel more natural. There can be less pressure around eye contact, more room to breathe, and something about being outside that makes it easier to slow down and notice what’s happening.

The movement supports the therapy, not the other way around.

What to Expect From Walk & Talk Therapy

This isn’t exercise disguised as therapy, and there’s no pace you need to keep.

We can walk slowly, stop, sit for part of the session, or adjust depending on what feels right that day.

Our conversations can include many of the same things we might explore in a traditional therapy session: relationships, identity, grief, anxiety, life transitions, difficult decisions, recurring patterns, or simply the feeling that something in your life needs attention.

Because sessions take place in public outdoor spaces, we’ll also talk beforehand about privacy, confidentiality, weather, accessibility, and what to expect when meeting outside.

Movement, Grounding & Being Present

The outdoor environment gives us opportunities to notice what’s happening in the present moment: the feeling of your feet on the ground, your pace, your breath, the sounds around you, or moments when your body wants to slow down.

When it feels useful, those observations can become part of the therapeutic work.

You might notice yourself speeding up around a particular subject, taking a deeper breath when something clicks, or becoming more aware of what helps you feel grounded and present.

Nature isn’t the therapy, and movement isn’t something you have to perform. They simply give us another way to notice, reflect, and reconnect while we do the work together.

Is Walk & Talk Therapy Right for Me?

Walk & Talk Therapy may feel like a good fit if:

  • you tend to think or talk more easily when you’re moving

  • sitting face-to-face can make it harder to open up

  • you spend a lot of time in your head and want more opportunities to ground in the present

  • you feel more comfortable or connected when you’re outdoors

  • you want therapy to feel a little less formal while still doing meaningful work

You don’t have to be athletic, walk quickly, or even walk for the entire session. We can adjust the pace and experience around what feels comfortable for you.
